Awarded annually to students with demonstrated personal initiative in the exploration of current and emerging communication technologies, who have a strong balance between classroom and experiential learning, and who have excellent oral and written communication skills, this scholarship is named for the family of Patricia and Robert C. Olson, M.D. Med ‘53.

My name is Caroline Bennett, and I am a junior in the honors college pursuing a digital media major with minors in business administration and political science. I am originally from Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.

I’m involved all over campus! I just took over the Executive Entertainment Producer role for MUTV as well as the Vice President of Public Relations position on the Marquette Panhellenic executive board.

“I am incredibly grateful to be the 2023 recipient of the Olson Family Award. This scholarship has really reinforced that all my hard work the past three years has been worth it, and that I should keep pushing myself to improve.”

A lot of my best memories at Marquette have been firsts: the first time going to an event with my sorority, my first National Marquette Day, my first time directing a live show for MUTV, when I met Shaka Smart and scared him with my level of excitement, the first weekly Bachelor watch party with my best friends, and the first time that Marquette truly felt like home. Marquette never ceases to amaze me. Just when I think I have learned everything, a professor will say something that completely alters my worldview.

Thinking about the future as my time at Marquette starts to end is scary when I’m having such an incredible time here. But in the future, I hope to work on scripted television productions in New York or Los Angeles. Marquette helps me reach these goals by providing me with amazing opportunities and resources, such as Pat Finn, a Marquette alumnus and my mentor. His stories and guidance excite me for my future in the industry.
