Donovan Ahern: Our 2023 Farley Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to Donovan Ahern, the newest winner of the Farley Scholarship in the Diederich College. Awarded annually to students with a senior standing and demonstration of creativity and positive use of humor, based on application and audition. This scholarship is named after the late Chris Farley, a student in the Marquette University College of Speech and a popular comedian and actor.

My name is Donovan Ahern, and I am from Fond du Lac, Wisc. Currently, I am a senior majoring in corporate communication with a minor in public relations.

“This scholarship is a culmination of my Marquette journey and I am incredibly humbled to be recognized for creativity and humor — things I think are important for creating lasting impressions in any field. Chris Farley is a beloved and renowned alumnus and I am honored to be associated with his name in any regard.”

My favorite Marquette memory is attending the first Marquette basketball game after the pandemic. The energy in the Fiserv Form was palpable and I felt a strong sense of camaraderie with my fellow students. To top off the experience, Marquette beat Xavier 66–59.

In 5 years, I hope to have established a successful career in business or communications with a reputable company, particularly in the entertainment industry, using my creativity and sense of humor along the way. I also hope my golf game sees some improvement within that time.
